Breakout Session: Supply Chain

Navigating for Business – Where Are Corporations Really Looking for Small and Diverse Businesses?

This session will emphasize the importance of certification/verification (similar to last year) but will now go the extra step of showing how some DOBEs, V-DOBEs and SDV-DOBEs have effectively used this tool as a stepping stone to get business contracts.  But wait—is your product or service area really needed by major corporations? Corporations get bombarded by small and diverse suppliers, many who are competing in the same spend categories (contingent labor, staffing, training, IT, promotional items etc.)  But there are areas where many large businesses are struggling to find small and diverse businesses (e.g. National Fleet provider (sales), transportation, TV media, radio, utilities where available, Production materials and equipment, consumer retail products, etc.). Typically, these are capital intensive areas/industries with other high barriers to entry (e.g. regulatory).
